Re: Fasteners Database

You should be able to register. Please tell me what's happening - I haven't seen any registration attempts even though I've had hundreds of lookers which surprises me.

Fasteners Database

Most of you probably know about the fasteners lists at http://stainlessbits.com/link12.html . The host site is defunct but the lists are still there. With permission of the owner, I have converted the two lists he maintained (Triumph - BSA and Norton - Matchless - AJS) into an actual searchable and ...

Re: B25 Pushrods

Thanks! This little engine keeps surprising me with things like this - I'm glad you guys are here to help! I spent a lot of time looking in the workshop manual but never figured it out. At least the parts manual confirmed that there was a difference.

B25 Pushrods

More on the B25 engine I got in boxes. The pushrods are not marked and they are a little different and the parts manual shows two part numbers. One has a dark colored rocker end and one has a light colored rocker end. Also, one has a smaller lifter end. So, which is exhaust and which is intake?

Thanks all.

Kommando, it's passes your test off the engine, I'll test it on.

Glad you all mentioned checking once bolted on -- I wouldn't have thought of that.

Oil Pump

Sorry for dumb questions, but I'm a Triumph Twin/Triple and Norton guy so the B25 is a little strange to me. It's a 1969 and the engine came to me in boxes. The oil pump would not turn so I carefully took it apart and got everything unstuck -- it all looks fine - the all gears look new. I was carefu...

Re: B25 wormdrive thrust washer

I've seen both. My problem is that the 1969 parts manual doesn't have one and I don't have one. I have ball bearings on drive and timing side. If you guys think one will work on a 1969, I'll used the part number from a later year start trying to find one for sale.

B25 wormdrive thrust washer

I'm assembling a 1969 B25 engine that came to me disassembled. The workshop manual says: "Fit the engine shaft sprocket distance piece and the oil pump wormdrive thrust washer , each with its chamfered face outwards." The exploded diagram in the workshop manual shows something behind the wormdrive. ...

Re: B25 Sludge Plug

Just place the order and it will be in the post, same day if ordered early enough. I just asked and as of now Anita has 11 The only part number I find on CCM is 71-1678 which is good for the 71 and 72 B50s, but according to the 69 B25 parts book, I need 40-892 (40-0892). Do you think they are the s...

I've done that before on Triumphs, but I REALLY tore this one up getting it out so it won't work this time.

B25 Sludge Plug

Like a big dummy, when I tried to remove the sludge plug from my B25, I didn't heat it. After severely damaging the slot in the plug, I realized that it had been put in with red Loctite. I got it out, but now I can't find one. The two people I've found that list them are out of stock. Does anyone ha...

B25 dirve-side layshaft needle bearing

I have a 1969 B25SS that I need to change the drive-side layshaft needle bearing. I mostly work on Triumphs where it is easy to get the layshaft needle bearing out. I don't know how to do it on these since you can't drive it out from the outside. How do you get it out?

Re: B25 Bore Size Confusion

I finally figured this out! I got to looking at the rings and checking them in the cylinder. There is basically no gap! After finishing cleaning the piston I see that it is marked +020. So, it turns out that whoever bored/honed the cylinder stopped short of +.020". I have no idea how the engine ran ...

B25 Bore Size Confusion

First let me say I'm basically a Triumph Twin/Triple guy so I'm a little out of my element with a B25. I'm working on a 1969 B25 true barn find and that is in terrible condition. It's clear that the engine was run very little after being bored or honed (most of the cross hatching is still there). Th...

B50MX Muffler (Silencer)

I need a muffler that will work on a B50MX. The bike has the original exhaust pipe. I don't know which mufflers will fit. The parts book has: B50MX: 71-2901 B50H: 71-1710 B50T & B50SS: 71-2401 So, I'm sure a 71-2901 will fit. If anyone knows if the others will fit, I would love to have that info, bu...

Re: Piston rust seized in cylinder

I'm about finished with a Triumph 650 that was in a flood while partly taken apart and then left for the mice as a home. It took forever to get everything apart, but I was able to save some parts, most importantly the cases. To do that, I submerged the whole engine in diesel (would have used kerosen...

Re: Rocker Inspection Cover

Thanks for reminding me about CCM! I searched for that cover for 4 months, finally found and bought it only to be disappointed! I suspect that the parts manuals are simply wrong for the B50 as related to that cover. It is the same part number for all the singles but it is clearly not for the B50. I ...

Rocker Inspection Cover

We're working on a 72 B50MX. It is missing the Rocker Inspection Cover. The parts book says: 40-0208. I bought one that is marked 40-0208 but it is not right, it is not wide enough to completely cover the ends of the rocker shafts and it is not curved correctly to get full contact with the underlyin...

Re: B50 registry

I noticed that the location map has no B50MX near Washington, DC. The B50MX I gave my grandson is in Southern Maryland, about 40 miles south of Washington, DC. I bought it as a basket case in 1974 and then it sat indoors until 1994 and then in storage until 2001. From 2001 until just recently, it sa...
