Electric Start - Broken Knees

Hi All, I know some of you are familiar with the two bikes I've put together over what is now 15 years which seems ridiculous to even say let alone write... Well, I now have an issue.. The bike I originally built for my dad way back when has sat dormant since 2016 as he can no longer start her up an...

Re: 1978 CCM Replica Build

Just thought I'd give a quick update, so I moved the bike from one side of the workshop to the other... Total pushed not running around 6m and sprung a leak from the back of the primary/output seal... Nice job for the winter, also got a shiny new Pes kick-start to go on. First class item, I got sick...

Looks great fella we got much of winter to go. That why I bought a new kick-start lever and haven't even been near the bike yet... Plus many many leaks to address.

Mines all cleaned and put to bed for now...

OIF Frame and 250ish Engine WANTED

Hi All, I'm here hunting for the next project, I've been doing some mild trials using a late twinshock montesa but it feels almost sacrilege given my roots soo... I'm on the hunt to build something new, I've decided on my course and should be a very interesting project now that the B44/PES/CCM OIF S...

BSA B44 +.010 41/796

Hi All, I have a BSA factory fitted plus .010 piston found in a box of spares, cleaned it up today and it doesn't look to bad. It has a witness from some det'ing in the past but on the whole it seems good to go and is still nice and round... Will require a new set of rings and circlips. I have the o...

Hi, It is seeming that way to me, I'm off with the whole engine on Monday to a recommended firm so will report back on the findings. Re: 1978 CCM Replica Build

Hi,

Yeah I syringe primed the pump prior to fitting, pre fed the crank and did a multitude of cranks with the plug out too. Also once the plug was in the fabled Mk2 concentric starting procedure eluded me for some hours many more kicks later before the first fire up.

Re: 1978 CCM Replica Build

The pictures arent that clear, the bore marks are on the for and aft thrust faces in direction of crank rotation so I would expect that... The marks are a result of debris from the big end failure I'm confident of that now. I see what you mean regarding honing marks and rung bedding but it's key to ...

So i split the cases a few moments ago and remarkably.... nothing. The mains bearings are unmarked, no play or damage, no debris in the cases except for that in the mesh in sump. Hi beat,

Yeah oil seems to be getting round, I have no issues at the small end a good strong feed to the rockers, cam is fine and the crank after 12 months since the blow up still has a film of oil all over it...

I'm going to split the cases shortly and get a more upclose view of the crash site...
