yup, sure, de-glazed. rings need something to bed to. and there must be a gap specified for your rings, they will be better if that is set somewhere near what they say. they do float and they do all line up just for a moment sometimes. and if the gap is too big that is not a good thing.

is that my B50 rockers rattlin' or is that my HD points slamming shut, <201 ? where's my ear plugs! i think Stan's logic is relevant here, that is, if the points on a h*nda can rev safely to 10,000 rpm then they should be okay on a B50 up to 7,000. i wonder what the purpose of the pointy cam i...

Ian's way is the way i (and i expect many others) do it, with a rag in the mouth of the cases of course ;-) maybe the bottom line is only do what you are comfortable doing otherwise, ship it out, that's another thing i do  it can save disappointment sometimes. we are here to help. steve

Okay so I have finally got to the turnaround point so bolts will be turning clockwise instead of anticlockwise. :thumb always a good thing. Also what is the best way to check the ring gap before putting them in? i think it is usual to fit the rings (not on the piston at this stage), one at a time i...

just some questions here: did all B44's come with the flanged centre? (and so Casey has a B50 centre) and are the B44 drums compatible with the B50 centres? (with a view to the machining for the thrust washer) Casey, i think you should check all of what you have there. maybe use the "spareparts" but...

that is what other people do Beat, just put it on ebay, buyer beware. all i was getting at in my first post was that after a voltage somewhere around 14.7 it puts all current straight into the heatsink, i thought that is how they work. edit: Beat says "after 14.7 Volts, it gos very fast and is heati...

that will be good Jack. it's always good to know if there is an alternative to a part, especially the c/stand. as stated before, the originals are extremely rare and are, essentially OIF Tr*umph castings anyway, with a different foot lever welded on to get around the side-stand entanglement issue (t...

Dan, there will be 2-3 studs that won't come straight out. how about going the full butchers and grinding/cutting off the stud as it comes out? and with a view to future pull downs, use a little anti-seize.
