Re: 12 vs 15 degree auto advance

The Electrex is perfect for a B25 on methanol....
Mine is fitted, timed to 37 degrees and starts first kick.

Yes Stan.....it took about 5 minutes to fit and works perfectly.
Threads were perfect.
(Just had to drill a wire locking hole in the top hex)
I messaged Gene to let him know....
Essential for 69 type engines !!

Re: Amal Mk2 on B44

The Mark 2 has a "Cold Start" system....it is not the same as a conventional "choke".
The throttle needs to be shut when starting the engine with the cold start lever depressed.
Hope that helps in some way...

Re: Rupert ratio valve clearences

Shimming the rockers can be a trial and error experience....
I shimmed mine to perfection,,,,then found that by tightening the screws that secure the inspection cover the rockers went tight !!
At the end of the day...there has to be some clearance.
Only one way...buy shims and experiment.

Re: Pattern B25 Copper Head Gaskets...

I cant honestly say that I have found a good pattern part yet for my B25... Generally, the worst bits have been anything that has a thread on it,,,,studs too short,,,poor thread forms,,,, crankshaft nuts in particular requiring re-tapping. All the best bits seem to have come from Ed V in the USA.......

Pattern B25 Copper Head Gaskets...

Hi,

Just torqued up the B25 head and found that the copper head gasket is not FULLY seating !!

I Measured it and it appears to be 1.15mm thick.

I calculate that I need it to be a minimum of 1.2mm thick

Any ideas please ?

Thanks

Re: Spark plug for B25 Methanol motor ?

I am building up another B25 top end which is a bit more radical....
I will probably fit twin plugs to that one.
Is the second plug a small 10mm plug ?
Does anyone have info for plug placement, angle, etc ?
Thanks.

Spark plug for B25 Methanol motor ?

Hi,

Anyone with experience of preferred plug types and heat grades to run in a methanol modified B25 ?

Also, is a recessed electrode better...or is it just masked by the bottom of the plug hole ?

Just running the single plug in the standard plug position for now....

Thanks in advance.
