Check the depth of the oil seal , I've been sold seals with a protruding lip which was just at the level of the chamfer of sprocket ....Very nice leaks :grin:

The very interesting part in fitting long ranges tanks on 250 is that you can refill and fit new shells on the same stop.... :grin: Saves time and money !!!! :oops:

Some have an "o" ring fitted beetween cases around oil drillings ,older ones don't have ...and even with two apparently identical I got the problem of kicksart quadrant needing reducing overall width to fit, otherwise it was too tight and hard to move when cases were closed ... <201

On the french forum about british bikes , a friend tells he managed to open up the central passage up up to 4.8 mm and says it runs now nicely on his Velocette Thruxton ... sur une VMT: achat d'un 1034 2 temps (neuf) montage du kit conversion 4T, remplacement spray tube, et beaucoup d'essais, bof......

On mine , foot pegs were on tapers and bolt and nut crossing through ...easy to fit and unfit ...I think they made a special model for your home market... :grin:

Beat and Skippy are right /Always use valve lifter to get engine running...
And yes, check the clutch adjuster for freeplay.

What tool are you talking about ... To disassemble the fork , you just have to unscrew the hexacav bolt fitted under the stanchion , then pull the inner tube away ... :thumb
Seems to me that the tool you've got is the one to unscrew the seal holders on pre-unit and early unit BSA's ...

I don't think it' s a BSA seat You should see two drillings (on the left side and one on the right side )on the back of your seat to secure it on the frame fixations , and the under should be oval , to keep place to the mudguard... :???:

Worry about new ones : the sheet of steel is not oval stamped, to cross over the rear mudguard but folded; and the seat doesn't fit as it should .... <201

Had such a problem few years ago, and it was the kill-switch connectors that had become loose under the tank ... :werd
Perfect starting and idle but after vibrations made contacts uncertains... :idea:

Discard it ...if you glue it, it may unglue and fall....
And yes, get a screw for the cover or fill it with silicon sealant...
Think you bought a 626 ? my B40 runs nicely with it !

B50 SS means that you have to use 50 Straight Sifty :werd
And Straight 25 for B25

Compression plate is not just here to help you to start the engine ...on my B50, it changed my life : no more teeth falling ...and bulbs now have a much longer life !!!! :werd And as long push rod are almost as rare as the Holy Graal, I did n't fit them and just fitted longer adjusters ....Made it 4...

Mine starts first, cold or hot , cold without opening the throttle but just tickling carb, and hot with a very very slight opening ... Right, andI suspect BSA engineers to have choosen this postion only for ennoying the greasing person....as he has to have a U bend on the greaser pipe .Or was it only to make them free from mud and dust ? :?:

I had the same crack in the same place long time ago on my B40 , bike had become a little inpredictable in curves :laugh ...Happily, it was the first time it broke , so noone dit braze it ...and a friend made a nice welding that never been cracking again :thumb

Was asking myself why you had to fit horseshoes to your stand , and while writing answer appeared to me : My B50 is fitted with 18" wheels , your B25 has a 20" one ...
Mid-series B50 (HE model for mine) had early Dove Grey shocks , and brake painted as early models .

May be you won't have to buy all these parts ...get a glance at "tech tips ", then "6 plates clutch " It may be very helpful ! And I did fit Barnett drive plates on my clutch long time ago : very much better , no slipping , and very much lighter clutch lever ... You can sometime find them on ebay US...

To make it easier , pull out the axle of quadrant (take a 2BA screw from external case , screw it (axle is threaded) and pull away . I think you have unscrewed the nut securing the ratchet on primary shaft ??? And close both valves to get free play on camshaft ;If so, inner case gets out , but don't...
