Late sixties I ran a C15 SS80 , saddle tank , one petcock . Reserve was laying bike on its side to get the petrol over to the petcock .
Rush hour , Princess st Edinburgh , fiancés first ride

YES you only have to trim the tang as it is shaped to clear a muffler .
I cut it off and have feel under the bike to put it down .
will have to weld a stub on some time.
paul
Rupert Ratio says the same with aluminum pushrods .
ie. just enough clearance for push rods to turn .
he says clearance grows as engine heats up .
my B50 ss still clatters abit when hot .

BSA used lower stays on nearly all the center bolt tanks ,from 50s on ,
to combat vibration induced cracks . pre oif tanks had round arched tunnels
and many got away with not using them.
oif twin tanks have square tunnels so more likely to split .
paul
gunnag what is the year of your frame ?
anyone , am fitting an earlier C15 tank with narrow tunnel , to a 69 B44SS
need part no. of the narrow stirrup rubbers . SS tank has wide rubbers on
narrow frame . thanks paul
Concratulations to David Rutherford and Ted Hubbard
David won his 3rd. wera vintage national championship.
winning by 90 sec. at road atlanta , on a 71 B50 tuned by Ted.
a photo in Roadracing world shows a stock looking B50
complete with conicle front brake.

my 1st B50 SS in 74 was 2 tone purple
after an accident the P O had the front fender repainted
as the shop diden't quite match the colour they painted the side covers as well, leaving the tank and rear fender original .
had to be pointed out why it looked weird.
I grew to like it's uglyness. paul
