Video clip

Post by Bill » Tue Jun 28, 2005 4:26 am

I was out at the weekend having a wee blast about on my B25 and a friend recorded this video clip.

It’s just a blast up a steep hill at the local riding spot, it’s also interesting for the free video hosting site that lets you link to video clips uploaded to it’s servers.

The quality is not very good but it wasn’t that good to start with. Anyone else got some clips to put up.

(Edit out the faulty link, working one 4 posts down)

You can upload a clip of up to 10mb, no need to register or anything just click on the home page then the upload button and your away.

Ok must be a video codec issue, I had that clip as a DivX-5 .

I must have the divx-5 codec on my computer as I used it in the past for helmet cam stuff.

You could do a search for a free codec but only if you know what your doing.

I’ll see if I can upload a more common codec copy later.

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Try this one it is uploaded as a MJEP (Movie J-pegs) and is classed as an avi file. My windows versions have always played these without any fuss.

I assumed that the putfile server system would convert whatever was uploaded into something like a windows media file, but it seems to output just as it went in.

It might seem logical to put them in as mpeg but the 10meg limit effectively excludes mpeg because the files are much bigger. I don’t have any means to convert to windows media files (wmv) at present I’ll have to look into that.

Let me know if anyone still can’t access the video clip, the first view will take a while to download and run but after that a repeat view is much faster.

If a few of us get the hang of this or something better it might get some fun clips up of our bsa’s. I’ll certainly try to get some clips of our members in MX action at next weeks site meeting. Could anyone racing post your number up so we can id you and get some film.

Can anyone suggest an alternative easy to use “free”, or affordable video hosting site?

OK, that looks fun, do I put nobblies on the Fleetstar?

Sunshine in Scotland, must be mid summer, are you sure it isn't the other side of the planet where our antipidean friends live?

Yeah it may be mid summer but you notice that the jacket is still on, the surface is red shale so it does funny effects with the digi camera.
