Was reading a 1959 article about the "new" Triumph Slickshift system. Seems to be a good idea- and Bob Greene had good words about it after competing in the Big Bear hare-and-hound event that year. Anybody here have experience with it? I'm surprised I never heard more about it.

From memory, the first movement of the gearlever declutched. Not had one myself, but friends who had them say it was more of a gimick than anything practical as heavy flywheels meant you still had to match the revs and was no quicker than using the clutch lever, but that is only anecdotal... more to go wrong and nothing like a modern slipper clutch by any stretch IMHO.
