awesome that will also be on the order I reckon. Hopefully have some walls and a roof on the workshop by the end of November and my build can get into full swing.

Hi All,

I haven't disappeared into the abyss , i've just simply been trying to fight the rain and now frost to get this workshop up. I now have all my walls and windows but as christmas looms funds always get diverted :(

That said the wedding date will not move and therefore the bike must be built in time, photos to follow!

What a gorgeous looking bike!
I am building another rolling chassis around a Starfire frame to use my Victor engine in, hoping it doesnt cost me more than I let that Blazer SS, (Its not a Trailblazer!!), go for.

If you are still looking for the kickstarter mechanism, go for the thicker quadrant as the standard B44 ones snap, it does mean you have to change the outer timing case for one with a bigger hole, but they are common and cheap.

As I am also selling my 66 B44VE, I am converting this :- https://www.flickr.com/photos/kenjonbro ... 902784307/ from a seldom used garage Queen to my everday workbike which involves me putting my stainless wheels on in place of those very shiny alloy ones, using an older set of forks instead of those NOS ones, but most importantly, that rather tuned and shiny B44 engine will go in my Starfire project and I have this week put my B50 engine into the pictured bike, now this is the engine that might still be shown by DVLA as residing in your Blazer SS, so, if you haven't done it already, can you send your logbook off to DVLA to get your new engine shown as I am about to send my logbook off to change engine and am worried that there is the very remote possibility that the DVLA might be efficient enough to see two bikes both seemingly using the same engine!

Cheers
Pete

Have done Pete, Still awaiting my V5C to return.

I have the thicker quadrant and suitable outer case all sorted and have quite an array of parts gathering to build her up, soon as my workshop roof is on I'll be sorted and get cracking....

Regarding putting a 441 engine in an OIF, what I found was the rear engine plates almost line up, but not quite, I found just elongating the holes in the plates worked. For the width difference, I put stainless spacers and longer bolts on those plates until it met the engine.
Hradest thing is your B44 oil pipes will foul on the footrest frame tube, not nice to spoil a frame by cutting that off, what I did was make a small alloy block, tapped to take standard B50 screw in oil pipes that then bolts to the sump in the same way your standard oil pipe junction thing bolts up, make sure the oil holes line up.
There are threads and pictures on the forum somewhere.
My 441 goes very well indeed with an Ed V flowed head, megacycle midrange cam and larger bore exhaust.

Sounds good Pete,

I'm well versed in the early engine clash points from throwing that B40 engine in the Trailblazer unbelievably ten years ago now

I am working on flowing the head atm at work.... done a dress up in the chamber due to some heavy corrosion and a repair to the plug thread, When I get back to england I will then port out the exhaust to 1 1/2" and begin making my exhaust. I also opted for MC's colsibro valve guides and inlet stem seal kit.

Can't wait to get moving on it now, had another set back with the workshop, some locals have been talking to the council so have an inspectorate coming in the next week or so to see that its all within spec before I can continue.

So the beast of for rebore and head machining, making good use of some of the bits supplied by Mark and Ed. Will get some workshop build photos this evening too as the last pic was a dirty hole in the ground.

Not long to get her built now, starting to feel the pressure!

Successful day at Kempton, plenty of OIF stuff lying about the place. Great to finally meet Chris (midgie) also, helped me out a great deal with some small parts that have been a sticking point.

Also got my downpipe sorted...

Lots of pics coming tomorrow really getting somewhere with this now.

I've been trying to sell a good B50 mainshaft for £25 for 6 months ...

Regarding your NOS main-shaft - make sure the clutch push-rod will actually go all the way through!

Frame looks good in gold. did you use Reddich powder coat, I am guessing there close to you.
I have heard good things about them and am just about to dispatch my frame to them.
if you did use them can you recommend them?

Thanks guys, just got home and the taper roller headstock kit has arrived so I can dress polish and fit the yokes tonight.

Also sourced some very good nick John tickle headlamp brackets for my huge Bonnie headlight. Sorry to the purists but I thinks it's just that bit uplifting in bright loud 70's style.

I didn't use redditch although they have a good rep, I've always used powder coatings ltd Birmingham. Guys always look after me and do a fast turn around.
