A kicker that actually folds away?

Does anyone make a kick lever that actually folds out of the way? The kicker on my 71' B25 literally sits right in the path to the foot peg.

I'm not opposed to breaking out the torch and reshaping it, but is it cast iron? Can I actually bend the thing without having it shatter or something (assuming it's glowing red hot)

PES make a brilliant kick lever.
For the first time in about 10 years I have been able to get all of my right foot on the foot peg of the CCM.
Not cheap, but worth every penny (cent  )

Hokey smoke, Bullwinkle's! Now if we're talking about the folding lever on the kick starter arm, the approved method back in the 'good-ol'-days' was to remove the lever from the arm, then grind away on the corner to allow the lever to fold farther inward. Thus the lever does not touch the inside of your leg, yet folds out to it's normal position for starting.

There's a Trials unit on BSA Unit Singles. He lists the MX part too, but none in stock. The trials part looks quite a bit longer.

It's pretty expensive, but I really dont see an alternative...

The stock kicker location is horrific. I cant believe I ever rode it as hard as I did as a kid, like that.

If you could rotate it forward on a spline, it'd be fine.

Is the PES part like the MX piece? I cant find it anywhere on the Web.

Seems like the stocker just sticks out way to fa, no need for all that clearance. Could almost be a straight arm!

It could. The real issue is where it's indexed on the shaft and the fact that you cant change were it's placed because they used that wedge pin instead of a spline. They saved some money there.

I ordered that trials unit from Unit Singles. See how long it takes to get here, with all this idiotic BS happening.

If you go to this page, and do a search (Ctrl + F) for "Kickstart lever" you should get 8 results, included is this for the B50 and there are some with splined shafts (splined quadrant needed, but then you can use a variety of jap kickers)

Well, shit.
I went to PES and searched and didn't find anything....I would have ordered that lever in a heart beat...

That search function is finicky. The difference is kickstart vs. kick start... <937

I'm with you. That site PES site is hopeless if you are trying to locate an accessory part.

To search a web page (like the PES price list), hit Ctrl+"F" and you will get a search box up so you can search the page (part number or text)............

You can also go to "catalogues" then "CCM " and you see all the exploded views.
There you can click on a part number and it will list you the stock and modified PES parts if available

Terry Weedy (Avery Products) does a very good folding kickstart cranked for either Trials with large crank or MX with smaller crank, they are a decent length as well, longer than some, which gives you better lever and mechanical advantage. He can also offer alloy topped kickstarts but not sure how strong they would be on a B50 but would be alright for B25. He is a very decent chap to deal with, but a bit old school and prefers you to send a cheque, but I have had loads of stuff off him and he has never once let the cheque clear before sending the item, he has always sent the part by return post. And if you ever have a problem with anything he sends a replacement straight away, I can't fault the chap.

As I said its as clunky as.

What if you don't know what you are looking for?

PES needs to list upgrades for the various models not hide them in an arcane, almost 50 years old parts system for an obscure make.

His office girl can be pretty brusque regarding enquiries. :laugh

I suggest you don't go looking for it at PES!

They are not bread heads driven by making lots of money by selling stuff, and they can sell all they make, so if you are expecting them to "serve you", think again. If you don't like it, frown at their web site and go elsewhere, its no skin off their nose....but they are nice people passionate about the products they make and how they are made. They do make some very well engineered bits, so if you want some of that stuff you may have to swallow your pride.

If they had a full time bod on the desk, who was polite and customer facing, you would probably feel happy every time you called, but they don't........ so don't expect to have smoke blown up your Ar$£ by the guy (or gel) on the tools.

No it's not mine, it is a picture off Terry Weedy's website showing the kickstarts, but I bet Terry makes them or knows where they are made.

Don't worry I've bought all sorts of clobber from Mark.

This blokes website catalogue works: unlike the PES tarted up microfiche-

Hi crankbuster

Which kick start lever is in your clip? It looks a bit like the Triumph T160 type

It's the P92 one, similar to the T160, but the spring and ball is in the lever rather than in the boss.
