Hello ,

with a B50 stock conrod ( 41-550 for B50-B44 ) is it usual to machine the cylinder liner like this ?

Gerry answered me quickly and i thank him but
i 'd like to understand why the factory didn't design a suitable liner for it 's conrod ..

Changing conrod is not a '' plug and play '' way ?

Could it be the original hepolite piston had a long skirt. Maybe they needed the liner to be at a sufficient length but the con rod and bottom of the liner proved a conflict. That created the need for the cut outs on the lower sleeve. With modern short skirt pistons maybe the liner could be shorter and fully machined off?

Not possible to see the relationship when all is assembled but a CAD drawing may prove it can be shortened without an issue?
