1974 Fork Rebuild For MX
Getting ready to strip and rebuild my forks on the 74 tr5mx. I am going to be riding this bike in vintage mx so I want the fork to be the best it can be. Any suggestions or tips as to the best things to do to these antiquated forks?

Without spending a ton of money re-engineering them, you can fit progressive springs and synthetic fork oil. Weight of oil depends on bike loaded mass and how much damping you want.

I will look into those springs. I live very close to Racetech so I might head over there to see what they suggest also. They like to charge $$$$ though!
One thing that is bugging me is that there is no lug to bolt the brake plate locating arm to. Someone suggested that maybe original owner cut it off but there is absolutely know evidence of that. Bike came with the 18" wheels on it which locates on a different lug.

Does the fork still have the 2 studs on the upper end (mudguard mount)? If so you may be able to fabricate a tension arm to the front of the brake plate which would need a welded lug with a through stud, unless the one already there could work?
