Oil pump feed

Post by jim-nz » Fri Sep 18, 2020 9:28 pm

Hi all.

I am wanting to do the oil feed modification which involves putting a supply side feed from the rear section of the frame oil tank.

The most conveniently available T piece I can find is a brass 5/16 T barb.

The ID of the T piece is 0.20 inch.

Is this going to be big enough to supply the oil pump?

I notice that the fittings on the frame and engine are bigger than this but i assume that as long as the oil way inside the crankcase is less than 0.20 then i should be alright.

I would just have a look and decide for myself but my engine is away at the builders right now so that is not a possibility.

Cheers.

Gear pumps push a lot better than they pull, so no restrictions before the pump is best.
