The seller says it's an ex-BSA competition shop speedway barrel. Anyone know if that's likely?

For what it's worth, I would guess that it is a genuine speedway item as the fin cuts are certainly similar to the ones on the accompanying picture, and I can't think that anybody who was going to the trouble of removing fins would opt for such an unattractive fin pattern compared to that used on the works MX's and CCM's ??
