Starfire footrest

Post by Nambo » Sun Dec 20, 2015 10:48 pm

Just been outbidded on e-bay.
I understand l/h and r/h are the same?
In which case I only need one.
My frame is 1970 so has the smooth taper without the splined bit.

Now my 1970 parts list has arrived, I see that the footrests for this year are now different, (I was wondering about the frame attachments being two inches out of line), I think I need the right hand one.

Even though they changed for 70 (there is a partial extension that with the bottom frame rail limits movement so if the nut comes loose they can only drop so far) the earlier ones will fit. I have an earlier one which has braze on it, no idea how far the braze goes but you can have it for postage. Its non folding so will dig in off road. The 2 inches out of line is a BSA oddity and both my 69's are the same. The 70 has instead of the stud with spline just a bolt, my Victor 69 is converted to 70 and I use a nyloc on the bolt and it does not come undone.

Footrest arrived today, (cheers). I was initially disappointed to find it the same as the one I already have, which I thought was a L/H one. But when I looked at my 1970 parts list more closely, ignoring the listings for the folding footrests, I see the left and right hand are not different but maybe they are?
Can any body explain this from the parts list?
----------------------------------------------- Per
----------------------------------------------- set

13. 83-0256 Footrest left-hand.. .. .. .. 2
13. 41-4863 Footrest right=hand .. .. 2 or 1

Its the extensions that handed them for 70, pre the adding of the extensions they were not handed.
