QD Hub

Post by Terryb » Wed Jan 09, 2019 7:53 pm

Has anybody experienced problems with the mating of QD hubs. I have QD hub on my B44SS which was extremely difficult to part and now after a good clean of the splines I can only get about half engagement. Any idea's guys?

I have the opposite problem. I have to use Loctite to take up the slack in mine or I have nasty backlash. Have you tried a different orientation of the mating parts?

I have tried it at various orientation some are worse than others. The best position still needs to engage about another 3/8" more of engagement.

A somewhat drastic measure you could take is to heat the brake drum and leave the wheel out in the cold just prior to assembly.

That's may be a way to put the wheel on, but what happens when you want to get it off. No there must be a reason why it's so tight.

I applied heat on mine to break the Loctite.

Did BSA use more than one type of QD hub? Does anyone know? Did they make them with different spline pitches?
