Chrome plating, powder coating in US

Post by Roger » Mon Dec 06, 2010 5:08 pm

Can anyone recommend vendors for (1) chrome plating and (2) powder coating, preferably in the US? I could ship my pieces to the UK but would rather avoid the extra time and cost if possible.

Thanks!

Roger

If you update your profile with your location in the US I am sure someone on your side of the pond will provide you with some addresses local to you

Thanks Rich. I updated my profile. BTW I am in Raleigh NC. Anywhere within driving distance would be great, but I'd especially like a vendor who has experience with motorcycle parts.

Roger I have no knowledge of east coast shops, but an observation.
St my work there were several occasions where we created the parts and had them plated. There were at least 3 different platers we used during that period. Just look in your phone book for local shops. I don't see a need to ship parts out, find some one local.
I had some nuts and bolts for the BSA plated by the same platers back in the day. I wasn't too happy with some of the results as you needed to be very carful when you put a wrench to them.
Appearantly there's a "hard chrome" which you do want to go for.
Most all of these shops plate everything from industrial applications to lamp parts. Including large items like classic car grills and bumpers.
Look local...
ask questions...

And get those old handlebars looking new again.

74 TR5MX bought in 77-new, I'm the original owner

Which one to ride today?

For chrome plating the best I have found, except for some old platers that have closed shop is Chrome Masters 826 3rd Ave. North Nashville, Tn. 37201 Talk to Lisa or Daryl.

Thanks for the help! I heard that the only shop in town was crap so figured I needed to search further afield.

We have had good luck with Adams plating, the quality is good, their turn around time is fair as is their pricing
