Wanted- TR5T bottom fork axle cap

Post by Davidg44 »

Hi, does anyone know where I might get a fork end cap for. TR5T. I am after an original cast one rather than a new machined one. Original part number 97-3947.
Thanks in advance

Depending on where you live, there are plenty of older bike shops that have these used or new. While Ebay etc shows plenty of listings, they are mostly the CNC machined billet type. If you can't get an original cast one (they often crack) a billet one can be made to look like a cast one by having it sand blasted.

I just noticed your post. In case you are still looking, they are very common. That front end was used on all of the BSA & Triumph bikes that used the Conical hubs.

I can vouch for that. When I stripped the front forks on my resto project, one of the caps was in two pieces.
I think I'll be going billet when I rebuild the bike, and as has been mentioned, they seem to be readily available and compared to some parts, relatively cheap.
If I had half the ability I think I have, I'd be bloody good!
