Lozenge silencer tail piece

Buy It Now - ebay UK - tail pipe (71-3172) for Black box silencer, redirects the exhaust soot away from the back of the indicator - see here. I don't think the seller knows the proper model application.

They are selling them in three's which works out at £8 each, fit one to your bike, keep one as a spare and sell the other
.
I thought there may have been a Service Bulletin about the tail piece but all I can find is a DDI (Design Department [Umberslade Hall] Instruction) as below:

Ahhh, Beat, my friend...

This bit of piping is listed for Triumphs, not our sacred BSA's. Indeed, while Triumphs do emit soot, our BSA's emit only the authoritative roar of the 1971 Power & the Glory.

The fact the factory began fitting the muffler with the built in deflected exhaust stub one week later, is of course, beside the point.

Soot on my indicator, I dream of such things. Just the small matter of putting a rebuilt engine back in the frame first

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not, but if you're not soot is the black dust left in your chimney after a fire i.e. carbon dust (Ruß). Ian Hingley may be able to explain better - reminder here .

I guess if you have your carburettor set correctly you should get very little or no soot.

BTW, a A/F Ratio in the range of 13.5 to 14.5 trough the all range of trottle Position will save the money for this tale piece
